FAQ
What Would You Like to Know?
What kind of editing do you do?
I am a proofreader and copy editor. I focus on spelling, grammar, punctuation, consistency, and clarity. I am not a developmental or structural editor. I do not edit plot or character development.
What are your qualifications?
I have a certificate of completion from Edit Republic, having completed, in the High-Level Proofreading Pro training course, all the requirements and training necessary to achieve professional proficiency in proofreading and copyediting. Founder and instructor Phon Baillie said that my final performance was “excellent,” “exceptional,” and “consistent throughout.” Her comments on my final project also stated that I “have a sharp eye and a natural talent for working with words” and that I “did an excellent job of preserving the writer’s style and the characters’ voices.”
I am familiar with and consult The Chicago Manual of Style, The SBL Handbook of Style for Biblical Studies and Related Disciplines, The Christian Writer’s Manual of Style, and The Merriam-Webster Dictionary.
What do you mean when you say that you are a Christian?
I was born-again by receiving Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and becoming a new creature in Christ.
What file format do you use?
Microsoft Word is the industry standard that the vast majority of editors use. If you’d like me to proofread or copyedit your document, this is the format I will use. This is because there are tools and functions available to me in Word that make my work more efficient and accurate.
What are your rates?
My rates are reasonable and in line with industry standards. Once we discuss your project and you send a copy for me to review, I will send you a project summary, including a quote. My rates depend on the level of editing I have to do.
My editing services include a complimentary 1,000-word sample edit and one final review after you have accepted or rejected my changes.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept personal checks, Stripe, and Zelle.
I require half of the project quote before I start my work.
Upon completion of my work, I will send you an invoice for the remaining half. Payment will be due within fifteen days.
